The rewrite of The Murder Business continues…unedited/incomplete…

Tiffany Watkins bled from her mouth, her face bruised and swollen. She swallowed hard and answered the masked figure’s questions. Her captor had shut off the brilliant light that had flooded the room and had covered her eyes with the blindfold. Her fear had returned. Rats squeaked in the darkness, and she could hear the scrapping of their nails on the brick floor. Earlier, when the prongs had jabbed into her neck, blood had come out of the new wounds. It had dried.
In the dark, the rats made their way to Tiffany’s ankles. The squeaks grew louder as the rodents began to climb up her legs; their tiny noses twitching and searching for fresh blood.
Tiffany screamed.
