Can you imagine?

What it must have been like to sit on the military tribunal that handed down the death sentence to Benedict Arnold?

“Gentlemen, we have an opportunity to show the world how to deal with the traitors in our midst. Inaction would set a bad precedent for future generations,” they would conclude before lynching the traitor from the nearest tree.

What it must have felt like when Nathan Hale was captured and executed, but not before he said: “I regret I have but one life to give for my country.”

Can you imagine?

Imagine if you will, how much love it took for Jesus Christ to carry His cross up the hill of Golgotha, upon a wounded back, wearing a crown of thorns, and never once did He complain. I can only imagine what He must have thought as He passed the throng of people who wanted Him to die, for the imagined slights they held against Him.

Can you imagine?

They nailed Him to the cross and suspended Him between heaven and earth. They shoved a spear into His side, and blood and water rushed out upon the ground. He cried out, “Father, forgive them. They know not what they do.” Then, He died for the sins of the entire world.

Can you imagine?

He did no wrong, but still the masses felt He should die. “Give us the murderer,” the crowds screamed. “Let Him die.”

Now, look at the world today, and show me the difference.
