The depression slowly sat down on Chrissy. Tears continue to flow as the memories of the good times she and Erik had together failed to comfort her.
“Where did I go wrong?”
In the midst of her anguish, her cell phone rings. The familiar jingle of Little Sister by Stevie Ray caused her to smile.
“Hi mom. How are you?”
“Hey sweetie. I am ok, just got home from the grocery store. My Lord, everything is so expensive! Anyway, I bought a pot roast and thought you and Erik could come over for dinner.”
The invitation felt like a dull knife in the ribs, silent tears slid down her cheeks as Chrissy takes a deep breath.
“Mom, Erik left me for another woman.”
The news caused the line to go silent.
“Mom? Mom are you there?”
“Oh sweetie, I am so sorry. Are you okay?”
“He was everything to me mom! How could he do this to us? What does she have that I don’t? Why aren’t I enough?”
“Sweetie, I don’t know why he left. I am sure you feel rejected but sometimes we go through bad times to get to something better…”
” I don’t want better! I want him!”
“I know baby but he didn’t want you.”
