Trump, North Korea and why we should try to negotiate…..

I am a huge fan of Ben Shapiro. Sometimes, I will watch his show and see what thoughts he has on current events. Today was such a day, however, unlike most other days, I found myself disagreeing with him. In his show today, Shapiro lashed out at President Trump for attempting to negotiate with Kim Jong whatever. He likened Trump to a used car salesman trying to pass off a lemon. As the show continued, he listed the atrocities of the North Korean government. Seems that the leader of N.K uses anti-aircraft guns to kill dissenters, uses starvation as a weapon, and is an all around douche nugget.

Why shouldn’t we negotiate with this douche nugget? Yeah, I get it. He is a rotten bad guy who does bad things. However, how many times did we try to negotiate with Saddam? I have seen the mass graves in Iraq. He was a horrible human being as well. Here are my thoughts on this matter. Negotiation should always be tried. We have troops in Iraq and Afghanistan (not to mention other hot spots), we do not need another war. After fifteen years of trying, it is time to give up on these two locations. Bring our troops home and let them destroy themselves. The mere fact that Trump tried to negotiate with this idiot and got him to the table twice is progress in and of itself.

Yes, it is progress. In my lifetime, I can’t recall a single president that not only got him to the table, Trump was able to get him to make some concessions and keep them. That is more than several leaders have been able to do. We have a state department that could handle these negotiations, but how many have tried and failed? I wouldn’t call this latest attempt a failure, but rather it is a setback. As a country we can’t fight everyone. Sometimes, you must try a different tactic. Could we annihilate North Korea with the push of a button? Sure, but what about all the people that everyone wants to use as fodder for why we shouldn’t try?

Many of my friends and I have seen the horrors of war. It is not something that should be taken lightly. We should not send people to war just because there are bad guys in the world. At some point we must be smarter than that. One of the greatest lessons in warfare was taught during World War II. Hitler attempted to fight on multiple fronts and that is part of why they lost the war. The same applies to us. You can’t sustain multiple fronts, and you will over tax your population trying to do so.

Of course, this my opinion and conjecture. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, it doesn’t mean that anyone is right. Ben Shapiro is entitled to what he thinks, just like I am entitled to my thoughts. Thus, we can talk about it and form our own opinions (no one will care or seek our advice). It will be what it will be. I am proud of Trump trying to negotiate. To me that is the sign of a good leader. Don’t threaten violence right off hand, try to negotiate and then if they force our hand, show them that violence was always an option.

You guys take care and I will chat with you all soon.

Freeman out.
