Today, I have been on a tear so to speak. My mind has been racing about time. What is time well spent? Today, I had the immense privilege to spend time with a special someone (as I do every Saturday). However, today has seemed like a day that was spent better than most.
Perhaps, it had to do with us just rambling through Goodwill with not a drop of cash to buy anything that we found. I found several things that I wanted to buy. She thumbed through a picture book of historical household furniture. We laughed and shared various moments of our lives. It was best of times (for me at least).
Then again, Friday was another day well spent. I had the privilege to go to Tennessee with my parents and grandmother. We shared laughter and reminisced about times that had gone by. It seems that the older I get the more that we spend time laughing about all the dumb things that we did as kids.
To me, time well spent is when you have people in your life that makes you feel that you can do anything. It doesn’t matter if you have money or not. Laughter, tears, joy or pain, it does not matter. The key is that you have these people in your life that make you feel alive. They support you. Life would be unbearable if they weren’t there. Spending time with these people stirs something inside. Usually, it is that complex emotion called love.
There are several people in my life, that I can’t imagine what my life would be like if they weren’t a part of it. Through good times and bad, they stood by me. They picked me up when I had fallen, brought joy when I couldn’t find it, and they wiped my tears when I suffered loss. Miles may separate us, but we are joined by a bond stronger than blood. To you my friends, I am grateful that God saw fit to place you in my life.
You guys take care. I will chat with you all soon.
