Far-fetched musings

I am sitting here in my living room making an attempt at being informed about current world issues. Given my curious nature, it makes sense that I would turn to online news sources since the internet is how I access my blog. Accessing the news has turned out to be a major mistake this morning. Fox News is reporting on Rep. Scalise and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Twitter debate concerning taxes. Unfortunately, some of AOC’s more radical followers were calling for another assassination attempt of the representative. That is classless behavior, regardless of which party you may belong to.

NBC is reporting that 22 immigrants have died while in ICE custody over the past two years. It sort of grabs you by the throat when you consider that they died in custody. However, I have a follow-up question. Why would you put yourself in the position to be detained in the first place? According to the article, over 180 people have died since 2003. So, we are reporting this now because…..

It seems to me, that if anything can be used to make the current president look like a monster, then it is to be used. Regardless of the truth of the matter or not. There have been three presidents since 2003. Bush, Obama and now Trump. So, it is an on-going problem, but we want to lay it all at Trump’s doorstep. Obama blamed the lack of economical growth and everything else on Bush’s doorstep. I have no problem with saying that George W. made several bad decisions, and the auto/housing market crashed under his tenure. We must find a way to move on past the pettiness of today’s politics. It is unfortunate that people have died in the custody of ICE. However, I am sure that the majority of these deaths’ were probably exacerbated by health problems and their journey to our borders. If our policy is to detain people, then the least we should do is conduct a thorough health screening of these people. Therefore, that should cut down on the number of deaths.

It was not my intention to write a political post this morning. It is Sunday, which means this guy’s going to church. However, it is what it is. I hope that you guys have a wonderful Sunday. Take care of yourselves and I will chat with you soon.

Freeman out.
