I have only one wish for my life. It is my wish that someone of influence would ask me on national television, “What does life boil down to?” My answer to this question is simple. “Choice.” The ability to choose is the greatest power that we possess as human beings. We choose who to befriend. Who we marry also boils down to choice. Rivals are formed because of choice. Every decision in life comes down to one thing….our choices.
We choose who to love. Who we avoid in the supermarkets. The stores that we frequent, to stand or sit for the National Anthem, the list goes on. It is our ability to choose that separates us from the animals. The food we eat, the clothes we wear, all of it is a matter of choice. It irritates me to no end when people say things like, “I don’t have a choice!” or “I don’t understand why this is happening to me!” If circumstances in life spiral out of control, it may be because you failed to exercise good judgment. In the military soldiers are taught the six P’s: Proper Planning Prevents Piss-Poor Performance. If we utilize the six P’s chances are that things will operate as designed.
Choices often happen out of ritual. We choose to tackle six classes in a semester. Or to work multiple jobs. There is no end to the choices in our lives, some are made on auto-pilot, others may impact our lives for days, months or years to come. In the end, it is a matter of choice. This concludes my blog for today. I am wore out, y’all take care!
