Recently, my thoughts have been torn in several directions. I have always been smitten with wanderlust. Traveling around the world was exciting for me. Many destinations were opened due to my military service. Europe for instance, was a choice because of my service. Thankfully, I got to go and visit many different areas of Europe while I lived there. Ireland, Scotland, Austria, France and many others were added to my places to visit. However, since I retired from active service, my traveling spree has been placed on hold. Retirement struck in 2012 in Colorado Springs. It is not a bad location to be retired at. There are several things to do and see in the Springs.
Things got rather expensive on a limited budget and so I moved home. To the land of cheap land taxes and low cost of living. Mississippi may sound dull, and in many cases, it is. However, it is not without its charm. People here are very friendly, the food is delicious, and there are plenty of casinos for people to visit on the Gulf Coast. If history is your thing, then Mississippi is where you need to be. Our history is vivid. They even made a movie that could be classified as the title of our beloved state: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
As is the state of most things, Mississippi has evolved through the years. Politicians aren’t going to allow things to stay the same very long. In some cases, we needed to change. There are several things to see, do and discover in this oft-overlooked state. Most of us Mississippians love our heritage. We honor those that defended what they believed in. There are several things that we wish we could do over but take a gander at your own life and tell me that you don’t have regrets.
There are many things that I wish I could do over. However, life is about learning from our mistakes. If that is the case, then I am receiving a fantastic education. There are many aspects to a life well-lived. Learning to live with our regrets and trying to not make the same mistakes over and over is one such aspect. This is where I will end this morning’s blog. God bless you all.
