In the quiet moments of the early morning hours, my mind seeks to understand my Bible reading. Before life becomes a hectic rush of emotions, the quiet allows me to breathe in peace and tranquility. Soon, it will become a race to achieve more today than I did yesterday. However, now it is a peaceful lull that drives me to think about things that have worked and what I can do to improve from yesterday. The peace that I experience comes from my Savior, Jesus Christ.
Do not think that everything goes smoothly because of time set aside to meditate and re-assess. Life is still full of trouble regardless of how much time we set aside to structure our days. Although, it is easier to follow a schedule than it is to wing it everyday of our lives. Remember, in head start that one of the first things you learn to do is color inside the lines? You followed a pattern, life is no different. Prayer, Bible reading, all of it goes into helping us stay inside the lines. When we discount part of it, we swerve outside the lines. Thus, it is paramount that we feed our spiritual man as much as we feed our physical body.
Today will be another day given to improving my parents home. We should be hanging concrete board today. In many ways remodeling a home parallels our Christian walk. Through prayer, fasting, and our daily readings, we create a home in our lives for Jesus. In the physical world nailing on boards, tacking down shingles, repairing busted pipes are all part of being a homeowner. We should make sure that our hearts are in alignment with the calling of God. As my pastor would say, we are all called to the ministry. Some preachers, teachers, deacons, bus ministry, children ministry and youth ministry. There is always something that needs to be done. See a need, fill a need. Sometimes, it really is that simple.
